Why Cairn?
In April 2021 my brother and I went on a week-long trail-running trip in the Abel Tasman and Kahurangi national parks. We ran the extended Abel Tasman track (great walk) over a couple of days and spent some time adventuring, based out of Fenella hut.
One of my best memories was running up Kākāpō Peak at 1783m, via Waingaro Peak at 1604m. At this altitude we felt like we were on top of the world, especially when we found ourselves looking down on a helicopter as it flew past.
To navigate to the peak we followed piles of rocks which marked the way. These rock piles had been built up and maintained by the travellers that went before us. They were quite obvious in the barron landscape and provided a definite direction for us, and kept us from getting lost.
These piles of rocks are called Cairns and are defined as "marking a route across not-so-well-defined trail, or sometimes the top of a mountain." The word Cairn comes from the Scottish/Gaelic carn.
Given my desire to help businesses navigate technology and reach their peak, my love of the outdoors and Scottish heritage - Cairn seemed like the perfect name for my business.
